Koi Kaze departs from the familiar well-trodden storylines of high school romantic anime in taking a serious look at forbidden love. Koshiro is 27 with his love-life down in the dumps and his dreary job at the dating company. His routine life takes a turn for the unexpected as his 15 year-old sister Nanoka, comes to live with him and their father. Born years apart and living separately after their parents’ divorce made Koshiro and Nanoka almost strangers to each other.Koi Kaze traces the sensitive story of how the two siblings begin to develop feelings for each other, and how they face their inner conflict of their feelings and society.
Koi Kaze confronts an incredibly controversial and disturbing subject to say the least. While there are no explicit adult scenes in the series, the content is highly mature and filled with underplay and symbolism throughout. The viewers are plunged into the emotional intensity of this drama right from episode one and kept invested throughout the anime’s entirety. Koi Kaze is one of the best anime I have seen with music and writing being at their peak in making the series stand apart. Perhaps what makes it unique is that the theme of incest is shown in a realistic and believable way – thus putting the viewer in a dilemma! It would be great to root for Koshiro and Nanoka’s love…but wait, are you really cheering for incest? A must-watch anime for all serious anime lovers!
