  Kyoushirou to Towa no Sara

Review:

Shiratori Kuu is a pretty but rather shy high school girl. She often has the same dream of a beautiful prince asking her to come along with him. Unexpectedly this prince in fact appears in front of her as a new transfer student and just like in her dream he asks her to come along with him. She also meets a mysterious and beautiful girl with golden hair, who seems to have some connection to that prince. While Kuu still don’t quite get what’s going on, she gets involved in their battles and reveals her own special powers.

Kyoushirou to Towa no Sora has many similarities to the Kannazuki no Miko anime. However, the fighting and mecha animation is much better and fairly unique compared to other mecha anime shows. Still, some people might think that a lot of the characters are over-stylized with prince and princess themes. At this point the plot still has great potential, but might as well fail for being plain and too cliché.

 Simoun

Review:

Simoun takes place in a fantasy world, where all children are born as girls. When they become 15 they can go to the “spring” and decide to become adult woman or man. The main-characters live in a country of advanced technology. Simoun, special airplanes that can only be operated by girls, are flown by priestess girls to honour the gods. However, this country is in war with a much lower advanced country, who intend to steal their engine technology, because their current engines poison their air. Now the priestesses are using the simoun as war machines and some decided they won’t go to the “spring” until the war is over.

Yuru Yuri

Episodes: 12
Status: Finished Airing
Review:

Right after starting middle school, Akari Akaza joins the Amusement Club which is composed solely by her two childhood friends, Kyouko Toshinou and Yui Funami. Chinatsu Yoshikawa, Akaza's classmate, becomes a member after finding out about the dissolution of the Tea Club.

The Amusement Club, situated at the tea room facility since the Tea Club disbanded, has no clear purpose, being free for the girls to do whatever they want.

Saki

Review:

It's a series about playing mahjong (Chinese tile game), mixed in with instances of yuri. With a description like that, I was skeptic to try it, but I'm glad I did! It became one of my favorite yuris! The series doesn't really take itself too seriously (adding a tiny dose of supernatural and fantasy elements during the matches) and I found myself giggling at the absurdity of some scenes while awing at the cute couples. Highly recommended!

Strawberry Panic

Review:

The plot of Strawberry Panic! revolves around the lives of the adolescents who attend one of three affiliated all-girl schools which share a campus and dormitories. The schools are: St. Miator's Girls' Academy, St. Spica's Girls' Institute, and St. Lulim's Girls' School. The story's main character is Nagisa Aoi, a young girl entering her fourth year at St. Miator after being transferred from another school. On first entering the campus grounds she is overcome with joy by the overall appearance of the surrounding area, but her joy is soon turned to sorrow as she accidentally stumbles down a hill, causing her to be lost and disoriented. While walking around the grounds trying to work out where she is, Nagisa comes across an older student named Shizuma Hanazono, who happens to be Astraea Hill's Etoile, a very important person who acts as a representative between the different schools and has specific duties that she must fulfill. Nagisa is instantly overcome by Shizuma's beauty and finds that she cannot move. After Shizuma kisses her on the forehead, Nagisa loses consciousness and awakens in the school's infirmary. In an adjacent chair is another girl of the same age, Tamao Suzumi, who informs her that they are to be roommates in the dormitory.

In the ensuing story Nagisa is introduced to other students from each of the three schools; some she admires, some she is intimidated by, and some are merely friends encountered while attending St. Miator. The series encompasses the relationships the characters build with each other, climaxing whenever two of the characters start dating. The central focus of Strawberry Panic! is the lesbian aspect to the relationships between the girls from the three schools. Depending on the media type, the depiction of the relationships between the girls is variously presented, with more explicit fan service – appealing visuals of the girls in provocative situations – in the anime adaptation than in the manga or light novels. A hint of astronomical star imagery is seen throughout the series, as well as minor Catholic religious undertones including a St. Mary statue on campus and a large Catholic church in the center of Astraea Hill.

Kannazuki no Miko

Review:

Gentle Himeko and reserved Chikane were born into very different backgrounds, but still became the best of friends. Their fates, they would soon come to discover, are intertwined in a fashion that they can't possibly imagine -- they are the reincarnations of two priestesses who once sealed the god of darkness Orochi in their past lives. Set to revive again, his giant robot-riding agents have set out to destroy the girls, one of whom is Himeko's friend who is in love with her. Riddled with memories of their past lives, the two try to survive long enough to cast the seal on Orochi again....

Maria-sama ga Miteru

Review:

The setting is Lillian Academy, a private Catholic all-girls school where the student council is known as the Yamayurikai (Mountain Lily Council) and younger students are taken under the wing of older students through a system known as the "soeur system" ("soeur" is French for "sister"). The main character, Yumi, who is basically a nobody, suddenly finds herself interacting with the members of the Yamayurikai and their soeurs, most notably her crush, the talented, beautiful, and withdrawn Sachiko...
